Beautiful Remote Estate in the Bali Mountains Surrounded by Nature

Set in a private estate in a remote area on the slopes of tranquil Mt Batukaru in the Tabanan District of Bali, it offers direct access to the jungle. It is located over 2000 feet (600 meters) above sea level and has a temperate climate all year around. 

Bali Mountain Villas (Rumah Coklat) is a mini  paradise.

Waking at sunrise in the tropics is a special experience and from the balcony at Rumah Coklat you will see the morning haze wafting over the jungle canopy with Mt Batukaru peak so close and Mt Agung in the distance. The sounds of nature and the mist that descends at night create a mystical paradise.

Rumah Coklat is a self-contained two story villa with an open airy design, with queen bed upstairs plus open style bedroom downstairs (twin/queen), both with en-suite.  You can self-cater, request meals made by our housekeeper,  or go to any of the local retreat restaurants.

The Journey itself is an adventure

The journey itself is an adventure taking less than two hours to drive from the airport, and you can be assured of seeing the ‘real’ Bali on the way, as you venture through authentic villages and extensive and picturesque rice paddies with mountain views. Unlike the coast where it is always hot, the mountain area offers mild weather and guests may require light warm clothing during the evenings in June to October and a light rain jacket for tropical downpours. The famous Pura Batukaru one of Bali most important temples is located within walking distance from the villa (2 hours return).  There are also opportunities to have many adventures including jungle walks, hiking, trekking, bike riding, temple visits by foot or car and day tours to Ubud, Lovina and local villages. Massage and cooking lessons are available from the locals with years of experience and a yoga specialist is available for private lessons.
